Raham is the Hebrew word meaning; soft, gentle, compassionate, affectionate, love deeply or to have mercy. The prophet Isaiah uses it to reflect the love that a mother feels for her baby. (Is 49:15) King David uses it for the love a father has for his child. (Ps. 103:13) The verb is also used often to describe the love and mercy God has for his people. (Ex 33:19, 2 Kings 13:23)

This kind of love reminds me of holding my child for the first time!

After all of the pain and agony of childbirth it all disappears in a moment. As soon as the baby is placed in your arms you are filled with the most incredible amount of love. I’ve never known this amount of love before. I would give my very life and breath for this baby. The next thought that fills my head is HOW MUCH MUST GOD LOVE ME? Goodness, if God loves me even a fraction of the love I feel for my baby, how much more must a perfect God love me? WOW!!!

My husband chose this middle name for our son that we miscarried. No word could better describe a child we never got to hold in our own arms. We can’t imagination how it must have felt to have the very first thing that he saw when he opened his tiny little eyes was the face of JESUS. To be present in the LOVING ARMS of our Abba Father.
